Drouin Receives One-Game Suspension for Cross-Check
The NHL's Department of Player Safety has suspended New York Islanders forward Jonathan Drouin for one game due to a cross-checking incident involving Pittsburgh Penguins forward Connor Dewar. The incident occurred in the closing moments of Thursday's match when Drouin retaliated with a high cross-check, leading to a major penalty and a game misconduct ruling against him. This suspension marks the first of Drouin's career, although he was previously fined $5,000 in January 2022 for a similar offense against Dallas Stars player Tyler Seguin. Earlier in the same game, Drouin scored his first goal as an Islander after signing a two-year, $8 million contract with the team in July.
